TACKY’S INCENSE MATCHES

THE BRIEF

​Provided in three different scents, cherry, mint, and lavender, Tacky’s incense matches brings back the classic feel of purchasing a vintage matchbox. The product includes a trash compartment that serves as a holder for your incense. The product design reflects old-style 1950s packaging for matches, with a twist; simply light the match, place it in the provided stand, and dispose of the used match in the small compartment designed as a trash bin. 

THE BRAND

​Composed out of 100% recycled materials, Tacky’s is dedicated to improve waste management practices. Additionally, the provided scents of the matches are known to be subtle and not overwhelming, whilst getting the job done. Composed out of all-natural materials, the matches offer a refreshing aroma to its surroundings. The pop of colors in the brand are meant to reflect that of 1950s and 60s packaging styles. The packaging is screen printed with environmentally friendly ink on its repurposed surfaces. 

THE AUDIENCE

This brand was cultivated solely for its natural scents. With its organic manufacturing, its purpose is to provide a healthy aroma for customers who care about both the environment and providing a refreshing feel to their surroundings. Tacky’s cares about its customers the way they care about our environment, so they ensure nothing but the best quality of products for their consumer audience. 

INSPIRATION

The packaging design for this brand was envisioned to be both heavily typographic and illustrative. I found inspiration in old-school packaging styles, which provide a hand-printed effect to their products. The pairing of a strong font, hand drawn assets, and colors that pop allow the consumer to have a more personal connection to the product, just like when collecting retro safety match boxes.
